I definitely would not call this heavy-duty by any means, it fell apart when I uninstalled it after a month, but…why would I uninstall this??
Well, it looks downright silly installed. It’s part chrome and part black in color, the rubber antenna is thick and when moving at speeds faster than 10mph, well, it just flops over half way. The reception was NOT much improved, partially because I think the length of the ‘whip’ antenna is only half the length of the flexible rubber.
Also, the install was a bit tedious as the entire base has to fit through a 1″ hole and who has a 1″ drill bit that goes through metal ? I followed the instructions to a Tee and it was still a bear to install. If you read my review on the Pyramid 1307, the 1307 is 50x better than this one, with far better reception.
So when I uninstalled this (the 1305), upon unplugging everything, the FM antenna plug came out of its holder and basically, fell apart.
In summary, it looks ugly installed, looks out of place, didn’t work well for FM reception, and then..it broke. One star.

Easy to install. Rugged. But a little weak on the AM reception. I actually used this for a car sterio mounted in my garage. Having trouble with poor reception on lower AM bands. Reception improves when I touch antenna, indicating antenna could be better.
